Mr Christopher Bowrey has been appointed as a judge of the Federal Circuit Court of Australia. Mr Bowrey has been appointed to the Townsville Registry and will commence on 22 March 2021.
Mr Bowrey was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1978 and as a solicitor in the High Court of Australia in 1982.
Mr Bowrey commenced as a solicitor at Wilson Ryan and Grose in 1978 and has specialised in family law since 1981, focussing on property settlements and child related issues including child support, binding financial agreements and consent orders. He also has extensive experience in mediating family law disputes.
On behalf of the Australian Government, we congratulate Mr Bowrey on his appointment and thank him for his willingness to serve the people of Australia as a judge of the Federal Circuit Court of Australia.
Mr Christopher Bowrey
Mr Bowrey completed the Legal Practice Course with the Solicitors’ Board of Queensland in 1977. He commenced his career as solicitor at Wilson Ryan and Grose in 1978. Mr Bowrey then moved to S Spina and Associates in 1978 before becoming a family law partner at Dean Gillman and Thompson in 1981.
Mr Bowrey returned to Wilson Ryan and Grose as a family law partner in 1986 and was appointed as family law special counsel at the firm in 2018.
Mr Bowrey is involved in various professional committees and associations in Townsville and Queensland and holds a position as Senior Counsellor in the Queensland Law Society.
